Adam Copeland, in a new interview for Sports Illustrated explained why Christian Cage is such a great heel.
Copeland, who has been best friends for life, and Christian have feuded ever since Copeland joined AEW. Copeland told Sports Illustrated Christian’s dedication is what makes him such a great heel. Copeland said that Christian has done all he can to make himself uncool.
Copeland said, “He does it so well because he wants be one.” “Somewhere along that journey, it got lost. Heels became cooler that the babyface. This is not the way it should be. It’s not the way he sees it either. The man is wearing a turtleneck with a cutout. It’s not cool what he is doing.
“He’s committed to it. He loves being a Bond villain. It’s fun being involved with.”
Copeland won last month’s Worlds End Pay-per-View from Christian, but Christian immediately regained his title by cashing out a title shot earned by Killswitch.
Christian is the leader in AEW of The Patriarchy, a faction which includes Nick Wayne, Mother Wayne, and Killswitch.
Copeland defeated Minoru in the main event at Dynamite last weekend. The match was a part of Copeland’s “Cope Open”, an open challenge series. Copeland took to the microphone after the match and said that he was still going after Christian.
Copeland told Sports Illustrated that the Cope Open’s goal was to “bring everyone up.” “I love seeing new characters and lightbulbs go on. This is what I have enjoyed most about my time here. It’s so much fun to be involved in what I’m doing. “Now there can be more with the Cope Open.”
