On this week’s WWE Speed, former NXT champions Ilja Dragunov (left) and Carmele Hayes (right) renewed their rivalry.
Dragunov & Hayes wrestled the entire three minutes of the first time limit draw ever to be held on the show. Dragunov, and Hayes were both eliminated according to the rules from the WWE Speed Championship’s number one contenders tournament. Baron Corbin gets a bye, and will face Andrade in the WWE Speed title match on the episode airing on X/Twitter on Wednesday (July 24,).
Dragunov vs. Hayes taped in Worcester Massachusetts before WWE SmackDown on Friday. Dragunov was in the lead when the three-minute limit expired. Hayes stomped on him after the match and officials had to keep them apart.
WWE posted a post-match promotional video in which Dragunov stated that he was not surprised by the draw because he knew Hayes would push him to his limit. The two wrestled for the NXT Championship in a series matches last year.
Dragunov was called up in the 2024 WWE Draft to the main roster, as were Hayes. Dragunov has a program on Raw with Intercontinental Champion Sami Zayn, Bron Breakker and other wrestlers. Hayes appears on SmackDown, and recently participated in the Money in the Bank ladder match for men.
