Jordynne grace did everything possible to prevent news of her WWE Royal Rumble performance from leaking.
The current TNA Knockouts champion entered the women’s Rumble on Saturday at the number five spot. She lasted for nearly 20 minutes, before she was eliminated by Bianca Belair.
Grace told Fightful recently that she was skeptical when she received the first call from Scott D’Amore telling her she would be in the Rumble.
Grace said:
When he said that, I thought, “Well, this might be just an idea they have, and it’s nothing real.” Maybe they’re just testing the waters.
Sincerly, I didn’t think it would happen until I booked my flight to Orlando for the PC. Then, everything became real.
Grace had a medical examination on the Monday prior to the Rumble. She flew to Orlando on Thursday to participate in WWE Performance Center rehearsals before driving to Tampa.
Grace Gresham says that she did not tell anyone about her Rumble appearance except her husband Jonathan Gresham. Chelsea Green and Naomi were not informed. Green was clearly not happy with this.
Grace continued:
I saw Chelsea Green who was really angry that I didn’t say anything to her. She hit me when she came up. She said, “someone texted me to say that you were here and I didn’t believe him, but here you are.” She was upset that I hadn’t told her, but I said, “Come on! It’s better to be a surprise.”
I didn’t tell Trinity either, which was hilarious. All week I was texting her, saying, “Yeah I’m excited to see you at the Rumble, blah, blah, blah” but she didn’t realize that I would be standing across the ring from her.
Grace stayed in an entirely separate hotel from the other wrestlers over the Royal Rumble weekend.
Grace posted a video on X of herself at home to convince fans that the rumors were not true. She told Steve Fall that she recorded the video in advance in case the rumors of her being in Rumble spread.
Grace said:
I took those videos before I left home because I thought, “Oh, just incase it happens, I’ll have some fun with this and throw them off the track a little.”
Grace received a warm welcome from the crowd in Tampa when she entered Saturday’s Rumble match. She said she heard the “TNA chants” as she and Naomi shared a special moment in the ring, which she had not expected.
Grace said:
I’m still in shock that it happened. I had low hopes because I didn’t think that many people knew me. I didn’t know if TNA and WWE fans were a mix. So, I said I’ll just go out, and if there is no reaction, that’s fine, just get in ring and ensure there’s a response afterwards. If they don’t already know you, make sure they will.
Grace Salcedo also spoke with our own Denise Salcedo after the Rumble. Denise Salcedo asked Grace what she was thinking before she entered the arena. Grace responded bluntly.
Grace said:
Don’t mess anything up. To be honest, that was what I wanted. You know, it’s funny, but one of the things that I was most concerned about was my entrance, because that was the first time people would see me on WWE. I wanted to be able to look good. In fact, I messed it up. I didn’t do my pose at all when I went outside. I was so overwhelmed that I stood there, smiling, and looked around, and said, “Alright, let’s just get to the rings now.” I messed up, but I didn’t mess anything up in the ring. That’s all I could ask for.
Grace won the Knockouts title earlier this month at Hard to Kill by defeating Trinity/Naomi. She successfully defended her title against Trinity at the Snake Eyes TV tape the following day. Grace and Trinity then worked together in a match recorded in Orlando the week following against Gisele and Savannah Evans. TNA has not yet announced when the match will be aired.
