The NJPW contract of Okada expired at midnight JST.

Kazuchika Okada has become a free agent.
The NJPW contract of Okada expired at midnight Japan Standard Time. The 36-year old released a statement shortly after on X, thanking fans for their support of NJPW over the past 17 years.

Okada wrote:

Thank you for your support of New Japan Pro Wrestling over the past 17 years! Thank you! It was fantastic! I laughed, cried and got angry. I am looking forward to the remaining three free agent games!
Okada’s contract has expired, and his merchandise will no longer be available on PWTees.com. Dave Meltzer, our own Dave Meltzer, notes that this is neither a sign Okada will be heading to WWE nor AEW.

“On the Okada side, the Pro Wrestling Tees issue is about not being able sell New Japan merchandise. It’s not an indication of going to WWE. It’s also not a sign that you are going to AEW,” Meltzer wrote in X.

Okada has also applied to trademark his wrestling name with the US Patent & Trademark Office. He also trademarked “Rainmaker” earlier this year.
