Matt Hardy believes AEW is more concerned with five-star matches rather than impactful segments in todays Wrestling news

Matt Hardy thinks the Hardy Boyz have a chance in TNA Wrestling to cement their legacy.

Hardy was on Busted Open Radio Wednesday to discuss his brother and him reuniting for TNA Against All Odds, which will take place on Friday. Both Hardyz will be at TNA’s television tapings this weekend in Philadelphia.

Hardy said, “I think in TNA that the Hardy Boyz will get the run we deserve at this point in our careers. That is the run to cement the legacy that is important to us both,” Hardy said.

Hardy was asked to explain why he believes they were not given the chance to run in AEW.

“Look at our star power!” It was incredible how many people came to see us at Wrestlecon Philadelphia. We get fans crying at us all the time like it’s 1999, but I think AEW is more interested in having a five star match than a segment which is impactful and makes a big moment,” Hardy replied.

Hardy continued by saying that their time at AEW began well, but took a bad turn after Jeff was charged with DUI in June 2022.

“We started off very well in the beginning. Jeff made a mistake and messed up. Jeff did everything to make amends for his mistake. He went back and made it right. I am happy that Jeff is where he is. He is a perfect human being. He hasn’t looked like this for well over 20 years.”

Hardy said that AEW did not give them another chance to capitalize on their popularity following Jeff’s arrest.

“(Jeff was) in a good spot, I just don’t know why we didn’t get that other chance to show people what can we do and capitalize on our popularity,” he continued.

“We would have loved that run in AEW, but it didn’t happen.” We are both happy to be in a place where we can maximize our status as legendary athletes, as we still are.

Hardy praised Tony Khan and AEW, but said he was looking for something else.

“AEW is a fantastic organization. The pro wrestling world needs them, but it wasn’t for me and Jeff because they were in a completely different mindset. I think Tony Khan has a different mentality. It is what it is, there’s nothing to get excited about. Tony Khan is a great guy. I was well paid while I worked there. We both, Jeff and I, wanted something else. I said at one point, “We haven’t lost a match on TV in 11 months and we are legitimately among the top five tag teams of all-time.” What is going on?”
