Mercedes Mone appeared on CMLL Informa to send a message this week to her Forbidden Door rival Stephanie Vaquer.
On June 30, Forbidden Doors will host a title vs. titles match between TBS Champion Mone, and NJPW’s Strong Women’s Champ Vaquer. Vaquer will defend her title against La Catalina in CMLL on Friday. It’s a part of the card for CMLL/NJPW Fantastica Mania Mexico 2020.
In a promo aired by CMLL’s Informa show, Mone teased that she would be at Arena Mexico for the title match. Vaquer told Mone, “I’ll be closer than you think to that match.”
“Hola, Stephanie. I just wanted to say good luck for your title match against La Catalina. You are a true champion. You know, I will be watching this match more closely than you think. Whoever wins, I’ll be at Forbidden Door. Because I am taking the title that was supposed to be mine.”
Mone was to be crowned as the first NJPW Strong Woman’s Champion in 2023. However, those plans were derailed after she sustained an ankle injury in the finals of the title tournament against Willow Nightingale. Mone, who had been out of the ring for a year, returned to the ring in the last month to defeat Nightingale and win the AEW-TBS Championship.
Vaquer defeated Giulia to win the NJPW Strong Women’s Championship in March.
The second time Mone Vaquer wrestle each other will be at Forbidden Door. Mone won when they met at the Strong Women’s Title Tournament last year.
