Shawn Michaels spent an hour with the media on Wednesday, to promote WWE NXT Heatwave. He answered questions about recent crossovers, Ja’Von Evans’ rise, the departures Drew Gulak and Gable Steveson, as well as other topics.
Michaels was unable to give specifics when asked if TNA would be present on Sunday, given that they were heading to Toronto. However, he did mention the interactions they’ve had with TNA, Bloodsport, and NOAH. He said that he hoped some of these arrangements would lead to more opportunities for the young talent to work elsewhere, given the lack more house shows.
Michaels, when asked about Drew Gulak or Gable Steveson not being with WWE, said that from his understanding Gulak’s deal was up and he had no plans for him to move to the main roster. Steveson is a man who always lands on his toes, he said. They say that they use people to the best of their abilities, but if there is no future for them on the main roster after a few years, he understands that management moves on.
He didn’t think it was realistic for NXT’s TV show to travel every week, and he wasn’t sure if this would be the case with The CW’s premiere.
Michaels said Evans is living his best life and has no immediate desire to move to the main roster. He loves Evans’ attitude and believes he’s living it to the fullest in NXT. He called his future unbelievable and had to remind him and other people that there is still a lot to learn even at “ripe age of 23 or 24,”
Lola Vice is also someone he sees as a potential main roster star. He clarified that it meant more than just getting to the top, but they wanted to prepare them so that they can attract crowds and make money.
